Its just around the corner, have you got the broadheads sharpened?? the bow all tuned up??? and all the kinks worked out of your shooting form???

I doubt i'm the only one who kinda slacked off with the practice regiment over the winter??? (I picked up my bow August 1 and started getting serious about practicing again after not having shot an arrow since January.)

6 weeks to get the practice time in, make bow adjustments, pattern some deer, find stand locations, touch base with landowners, cut shooting lanes, tune broadheads and go to work the odd day.

Seems like lots of time but you figure how many days will be used for bear, grouse, duck/goose hunting, scouting moose, patterning shotguns, the final sighting-in big game rifles before the season, it will be here in no time.

Man, I love this time of year.

I hear you, took a bit trip to Cableas and got the final gear I needed. I'm ready for deer with my bow I have been shooting it all year, Trail cams are out, climbing deer stand ready and I have an awsome new spot to hunt only 20 min from my house!! There is so much hunting to do and not enough time!! Moose goose deer, then into coyote.....man I can't wait!!

oh yah!!!!!!!!!!

....I don't sharpen my broadheads...I just get new ones each season... you can beat the sharpness from the box....

bow has been paper tuned and has been greased, and laser checked for cam lean, center shot etc

bought new arrows

been shooting since may

just bought a swithback XT..its a mathews...enough said!!!

but first it's archery moose, then archery deer yeehawww, moose starts on the 16th wahooo!!!!

Yep. I just finished putting up the no hunting signs and spraying the orange dots on trees on the gas pipleline that runs through my Dad's farm.
Hopefully, that will keep the most people out.
Had a hunter walk through our land on the last day of season last year.

I'm not a bow hunter so leave some for us gun hunters... :)

I'm not really an archery nut either, but i like the extra time in the bush it allows me to have. I find when its time to get the archery stuff ready it is just a signal of things to come.

The flocks of geese get a little bigger, the bears start running the roads in a panic to find food, the trees are a lighter shade of green, the grouse are nice and juicy and the deer starting to change from thier summer reds to thier "shoot me" brown color.

Its the best time of the year so you gotta enjoy it because the next thing you know we will be #####ing and moaning how busy the stores are on the day before x-mas. (of course theres still lots of hunting to be done, but big game hutning is pretty well over)

Nice to know you do this. People like me who don't have farms can just start hunting in our bathrooms!

Two words: Crown land

(Or join a hunting camp...)

Trespassing is a problem. My Dad's neighbour had a some guys using his tree stands and they actually shot a deer (all without permission).
Needless to say the neighbour was pissed...

Yeah, I hear you! Last year at this time, I had been practicing daily from January 1st. I shoot traditional bow with no sights, so tons of practice is essential. I could keep a quiver full of arrows into a deer size vitals out to 30 yards with no problems. Of course, my only shot at a buck on opening day in October last year resulted in a miss at 25 yards.....

Thus far this year, one excuse after another has prevented me from practicing more than once a month. I have got to get back into form, especially since I will be using my newest bow, a 70lb Mamba recurve. (Lots of Robaxacet and Tylenol 3's. Oh, and a couple of beers!):puke:

It's daily practice now, or else face the prospect of hunting with my, gasp, crossbow!

I have been trying to get 40 arrows down range per night, and I'm getting there. I can hit a 2" circle 5 times in a row @ 25yds now.

The payment is i've been on a steady diet of robaxecet and coors light ever since I started practicing again........:p :D

This year I vow to stay in form all winter long........  :)
