60 gr .22LR Aguila Sniper Subsonic ammo

I managed to get a couple boxes in a lot that I bought off a buddy from the range a while ago. I shot a couple groups, but the stuff didn't catch my interest and the remaining few boxes have been collecting dust since. What's the going rate for this stuff? Anyone seen it at shows recently?

check the velocity of any match ammo and it is less than 1100 fps. to be subsonic it has to be under 1000fps. the reason the aguilla sss ammo has such a short case is because of the bullet length. that ammo was designed for sound suppressed firearms.
it is also intended for very short range because it looses it's energy fast.
this ammo was intended for "HUSH PUPPY" weapons and not for everyday shooting.
check into a suppressed 10/22 and you will see the barrel is only about 10". the suppresor makes up the balance of length and also covers the barrel.
i was lucky enough to handle one but sadly could not shoot it.

Well, from what's been posted here, anywhere from $7 a box to a buck a round. I'd get it up on the EE while the getting is good! :D What was it that they claimed that P.T Barnum said....?:)

I figure this forum needs an amalgamated sticky of the weekly posts looking for this ammo. Starting off with a link to the Approved Ammo List that shows all the stuff that can currently be imported to Canada from anywhere, legally.

This one. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33921

Not on the list, means it's not gonna show up on the shelves at yer local, unless someone's doing something on the QT or has a stock that is left over from an earlier time in history.

Cheers

Unless you're using a supressor (which you can't here legally), there is no reason why it needs to be subsonic. It still isn't hearing safe coming from a bolt gun...

You are misinformed in this post and the previous one.
It shoots great out of some rifles, not so great out of others... but to make a rule.... hmmm.

Sure it would be. Supersonic .22 rimfire only meters about 140-142 dB. The subsonic stuff would def be under the 139 dB hearing safe limit.

That's expensive? Last I saw it was going for a buck a round now.

That would be $50 a box. :onCrack:

I have prob 3 bricks of Aguila SSS, that I'd sell for $100 a brick which is a mere $10 a box.

Seriously though, where did you come up with this nugget of BS? A heavy bullet at lower velocity will retain its energy much longer than a light bullet at high velocity. Given that bullet weight doesn't change as the bullet flies, the only thing that does change is the velocity and high velocity bullets lose velocity much faster than slower bullets.

I've found it is always helpful to know what you are talking about BEFORE posting on the internets. :slap:

Groups size does not mean its stable. Yeah, it groups ok at 25 yards in some rifles, but if you look at the holes more closely, you'll see they're still slightly oval, not round. Have yet to see nice round holes out of a 1-16" twist.

I'll gladly sell what I have left for $10/box or trade for Win. or CCI 40gr. SS HP. Same deal for the 20 gr. Super Colibri everyone also wants so badly. Local pickup only.

1:16 is not the only twist rate on this planet for 22LR.
Nylon 66 grouped them nice and round. So does the 10-22 with a 1:9 bbl.
