60 gr bullets in a 1 in 14

Has anyone tried them. I have a swift and was wondering if it would stablize it?

Should stabalise most 60g bullets. It's the length of the projectile that cause the problems in slower twists, not the weight.

You I had good luck with heavier bullets in standard twist barrels when I stuck to flat base round nosed bullets such as Sierra's 63 gr and Speer's 70 gr. When you start going to the heavy boat tail match bullets is where the trouble begins. I think another benefit of the flat base - round nose style is that the bearing surface is quite long, and the bullet is less likely to misalign as it enters the rifling.

I have a 223A.I. with a 1-14 twist and it will shoot 64 grain Winchesters no problem

I have owned quite a few 1-14" Swifts over the years, and never had one yet that would not stabilize pretty well any 60 grainer that is available. The velocity helps a bit. I know that my 222 will only stabilize the shortest 60's available. Try those 60's with IMR 4350, W760 or H380, should work great! Regards, Eagleye.

I have a 1 in 14 in a .243 and can shoot up to 87 grains. 100 grains is all over the paper, the 62.5 grain work the best in my barrel.
