This is one rifle that I believed would shoot these okay, and it did.
From the bench at 25 yards, a group of 5 shots about quarter sized.
Original iron sights by the way, at 60 yards and plus the sight ramp adjusted for this distance, after some practice one could hit clay pigeon targets set on the berm, consistantly.

Some experimenting at 100 yards, with the sights set at 125 or 130 yards one could get the rounds onto 8.5 X 11 inch paper.
Just too little definition with these crude sights, and the three inch "shoot and see" target, in the middle of the 8.5 X11 inch paper target, had hits one to two inches outside of, and around it.
It was all I could do to even acheive these marginal results.
Too much wind and asking too much without a scope under these conditions.

On a calm day, I know we could of tightened up our groups on paper.

This is the most success we have had shooting 60 grain Aquillas out of any rifle,
a scope would have been a great help.
One could probably say that the more common TOZ-17, 5 shot repeater, 22 bolt action should be almost the same in expected capabilities.

As issued, a fuzzy bunny is definitely tonights supper at 60 yards with this rifle and a steady aim, and at 100 yard shooting on small critters, would require a good scope, or better iron sights, in our opinion.

I know this 22 ammo is availeable sometimes, and we thought it would be convieniant to know of a common and reasonable small game rifle, that delivers some kind of accuracy, with these specilized rounds.

Again Silverback was a great help spotting shots for each other.

Cheers:)

My intention was to try and use a shot out 1-9 twist Savage 223 barrel to get a faster twist rate. I haven't tried that yet but while talking to a highly respected barrel maker who specializes in 22rf barrels I was told that a 1-13 twist would work very well with these 60gr Aquilas. I ordered one of these match 22rf barrels but have been too busy to play with my own projects.Look forward to seeing what it will act like at 100yds. though.
