AKA don't make the same mistake I made!
I got my SR-22 about 6 months ago. I wanted iron sights on it above all else. But since you have to buy the rails AND the sights I started with a cheap Tasco reddot.
Later I found some cheap rails at the local gun shop. They didn't have any sights so I searched the interwebs for some cheap AR-15 sights.
Now I would say Magpul MBUS sights fit the bill. But they're really hard to find in Canada. Plus they cost apx twice the price.
My mistake?
Not understanding what an AR-15 "gas block" was and the difference between a full height front sight designed to be mounted on a gas block and a low profile front sight designed to be mounted on the hand guard rails. I actually thought that because the gas tube runs inside the hand guard on an AR-15 that the "gas block" was just a fancy name for the hand guard!
So I bought my rear and front sights from Frontier Firearms. They arrived shortly. They are both NcStar parts and can be seen here.
So I went out and took some shots. My point of impact was so low I wasn't even hitting the paper at 25 yrds! So I raised the rear sight all the way up. I was still shooting too low. I was shooting about 8" too low at 25 yrds. I figured even if I lowered the front sight all the way down... I would STILL be too low!
I couldn't figure it out! I figured these sights are both made by NcStar and designed for the AR-15. I looked up many images of AR-15's and it looked like %99 of them with full length rails had the front and rear rails of the same height (flat top) but I think I did see a few that looked like the rail on the hand guard sit lower.
Anyway, I couldn't figure it out until I Googled "AR-15 gas block" and saw this...
Now it all made sense! The gas block generally has a rail on top that sits lower than the hand guards top rail!
I bought the wrong front sight!
So I got a "low profile" front sight from UTG like this...
This combo should work great. I haven't shot it yet but I read reviews on Amazon and another guy had the exact same combo on his SR22! I also put my red dot on just in front of the rear handle and the sights did in deed co-inside with the red dot. When I did this with the old front sight the red dot was below the bottom of the front sight pin as expected. Also UTG also makes an "AR-15 carry handle" style rear sight. Although I wonder if it's actually the exact same part as the NcStar part? I've noticed a lot of the UTG product and NcStar product look the same.
Here is a picture showing the two front sights side by side. You can see how the original sight meant for the "gas block" sits much higher on the rail.
Here is the SR-22 with the new sights on.

The UTG part number is MNT-754 and can be found on Amazon for like $25.
The NcStar part number is MARDCH and can be found on Amazon for like $35.
So for $60 plus shipping you have a cheap pair of sights. Half the price of the MBUS gen 2's in Canada and MUCH easier to get a hold of. For what it's worth many of the UTG and NcStar parts look identical BUT the two NcStar products I received both had light scratches or dings on them while the UTG sight arrived in mint condition.
