Hi everyone, i had the camera out today and i just thought id share one of my guns that means the most to me.

It is a Cold Woodsman .22lr, handed down to me from my grandfather. From the serial number it is a sport model made around 1950. It is still one of the guns that i shoot frequently and works flawless, also very accurate and in my oppinion still ###y as ever :)

If by ###y you mean all the right curves then yes, but it is also slightly sinister looking due to it's resemblance to the German Luger.

A very (cool) cold colt!

Great story! Great pictures!

Bravo!

Thank you very much for sharing. The wear and the patina on this piece speak volumes about how she has been enjoyed and cared for.

My first pistol was a Crosman 454.

I would have much prefered to learn on something like your Woodsman. There is no doubt in my mind that Crosman copied their design from your Colt. The grip adapter (backstrap) on your Woodsman is cool as heck. I love what it does to the lines. When I look at your pictures I now understand what people mean when they talk about how well a gun 'points'. I would guess that this particular design would point very well for most people.

I seem to be consistently drawn to the work of Mr. Browning. I haven't known him to make anything badly yet.

What series do you think she is?

That is a pistol you will always treasure and pass on to another family member. I had a similar Woodsman with a shorter barrel, then a Woodsman Match Target and a Targetsman. Unfortunately all are long gone.

Thanks guys, and yes it does have a strong resemblance to the German Luger. My grandfather also had some grips that he made for it but the corner started cracking off and i wanted to keep everything original so i put these back on. Needless to say this is in the "not for sale" list. Hopefully it can bring my children and their children many years of enjoyment in the future. It will be an awesome feeling when i can say it is 100 year old pistol.
