6004 Holster Question

Well this may not be a pistol question but it is pistol related.

What is this screw for on my Safariland 6004? I looks like it's attached to nothing.

The retention screw seems to be on the bottom of the other side (tightens the area around the light/end of the reciever). Mine is loosened right off and I can't feel any difference...
 
I'm a moron.

I went from loose to really loose so I didn't see a difference. I went tight and good luck getting the pistol out.

If you tighten the screw it deforms the inside to create more friction.

On my 6004/M3 holster I haven't tightened it up at all.
 
when the holsters are brand new they usually do not need adjustment. Safariland builds in the adjustment for wear and model variation. The suede lining will thin out due to wear and the gun will get looser in the holster....tighten it up a bit.
