The 60th Ontario Skeet Shooting Association Skeet Championships was hosted by the Oshawa Skeet Club on Aug 3-5.
Friday brought hot, humid and windy weather for the Doubles event. When the dust (and wind) settled, John Ellis was the top gun with a 98x100 to take the Doubles Championship. John Kapron won a shoot off of 97s to take Runner up.
12 Gauge event flew Saturday morning and four shooters posting 100s. Steve Loveday won the shootoffs with Peter Smith taking runner up. Mike Martin and Andy Spooner finished AA1st and AA2nd.
Saturday afternoon brought more hot and windy for the 28 Gauge Event. Brad McRae shot the only 100x100 to take Champ. Don Walton outlasted John Kapron to take Runner up in a shootoff of 99s.
More wind greeted shooters Sunday morning for the 20ga event. Three shooters were able to finish with perfect rounds of 100. Charlie Peacock won the shootoff with Brent Winitermute finishing as Runner Up and John Kapron taking AA1st.
The windy conditions continued for the .410 event. Two shooters had the top score of the day at 98x100. Steve Loveday took his second Championship of the weekend winning a shootoff over Andy Spooner.
The difficult conditions all weekend showed in the High Overall scores. Andy Spooner won the Ontario High Overall Championship with a 394x400 when he defeated John Kapron in a shootoff.
John Kapron was the High All Around Champion with a 491x500. Charlie Peacock was Runner Up with a 489x500 when he beat Marc Andre Jodoin in a shootoff.
