Id like to swap out to an ATI or Tapco stock. I tried the Tapco and found that even fully extended I was still quite 'cramped'. What i didnt notice was whether the Tapco stock tube is threaded into the stock body or is it glued/pressed?

The ATI Strikeforce NON-FOLDING - for anyone who has this system, is the butt stock able to separate from the main stock in such a way that you could lengthen the assembly? All the pics on the ATI site show the folding version.
 
why not just get a pad to extend it thats what i do my LOP is 14.5" most military stocks are short to fit smaller troops and in the case of the russains women (this was not a thought in western countrys untill the late 70's)

The tapco tube actually just has a blocky front end that fits into a hole on the pistol grip and is held in with two small bolts. It's very easy to take in and out, so you could get something longer made that would easily swap out, but depending how how much longer you want it i would try antique guys suggestion and just put on a buttpad before getting into longer tubes, but either should work.

I'm 6'4" too, and I use the Choate Dragunov stock. It's perfect. It has removable spacers to change the LOP. I use all the spacers (two of them).

They're a little hard to find. I bought mine off the EE, but I think hical.ca is a Choate dealer if you want to find a new one.
 
I'm just over 6'2" and find the sks shoulders well for a relatively heavy semi-auto centerfire. Keep in mind this is intended for relatively quick trigger pulls so a closer center of gravity will help with recoil management and the ever so-important follow up shot.
 
I have the tapco stock and run an extra buttpad for length, works well. Lots of people hate the tapco stuff but for us tall guys it sure makes SKS nicer to shoot, and when I am shooting all I can see is front site anyways!

When I hold an SKS it looks like a kids gun. I can't believe the US lost to those people! It must have been the SKS that won the war.

Na it's the SKS. Those plastic m16's just don't cut it. I still can't believe they still use that style of rifle. I know it's an improved version today but still. I know a guy that was in the army and he used the FN and the modern m16 canadian version and he said they all prefer the FN. he said the stuff they are using now are crap. But he did learn how to water ski in Crete.

the VC started using the m16 and mixed firearms the russains sent everything could be found from the ppsh to the mg42 later on they sent the sks,ak, abd a bunch of other russain made stuff
