66th Annual Victoria Day Matches at Connaught ranges,TR & Fclass, anyone attending

I think it would be interesting for sure, but I don't know about unfair. Who do you think shoots more, a competitive target shooter who practices twice a week or a CF sniper, who has all sorts of other skills that need to be trained and perfected?

The current weather forecast predicts a beautiful weekend with sunshine and occasional cloud and great temp range.
However...this being Connaught ...and the Maytwofer, bring gear for everything from blizzards to swelter.
Should be a fun weekend.

It was a great weekend at Connaught! Here are the Grand Agg scores:

A special congratulations to Jonathan Laitre, who absolutely dominated the F-Class competition this weekend, winning the F-TR by 15 points, and who would have won the F-Open by 8. Fantastic shooting! Thanks to all those at NCRRA who helped organize and conduct this match, and the great markers.

Congrats to Jonathan, Gord, and Pat. It appears that magic load of Jonathan's is for real. The next VamPlew family gathering could be interesting too, from the looks of the TR scores!

thanks Matt for your good word.....and yes my load is for real......))) awsome weekend, well organized as usual, great range officer.......

After shooting with Jonathan I told him to not change his load. It's working!!!
Congrats to all. It was fun shoot. :)

JP don't you mess around with your load on your 6BR you put on a clinic at 300,500 & 600 you sure showed everyone that the 6BR works. very nice shooting.I still think you should have used it at the longs.
You made perfect wind calls with your 6.5 by 55 AI but vertical was a problem I am sure you will fix that for next shoot

Now let's hear more about this load! Please share.

After repeated discussions with him this weekend I can tell you with some certainty that he is using Lapua brass, 200 Hybrids, and smokeless powder. ;)

He has been unwilling up until this point to divulge too much more detail but he did drop a few hints; apparently it is a medium/slow burn rate single base powder (not Varget) that it is readily available, but not one of the usual suspects. Let the speculating begin!

Wow.... Didn't think someone who shot so well would be that insecure and not share his load info. I don't think I have ever seen that from a precision shooter before.

hahahahaaaaaaa Paul....

this is got nothing to do with insecurity in a competition and if its a first timer, then it will stay as it is.

There is reasons for that and the first one is...security behind the rifle. I`m not looking to hear from someone getting is face blown up after he tryed something too hot for is setup. As it's all about throat, and 34inch of pipe... There is a couple (maybe 2-3) powders that can acheive and shooters need to make their own testing to find out which powder is best suited for their chamber-barrels specs combination.

have a note that i`ve been reloading untill midnight every single day since a month....working 50-55 hrs a week on top....going to the range 2-3 times a week to test.....put SO MUCH....SO MUCH effort finding that sweet spot for the world championship to come....

hope that the the fact i not ready to share at the moment will not make me something i`m not.....but no control of jugement of people

I consider Jonathan a good friend, and also a competitor and I don't have an issue at all with him wanting to be careful with this information. Let alone the obvious safety issues, he put a ton of time and effort in to finding a real hummer of a load using a powder most may not have thought to try; why should we expect him to just give that away to people who he potentially competes with?

i would like to note also that there was AWSOME shooting done by Manitou on the weekend, he sure proove...again...that those 223 can shine when wind is calm, even at 900m. He shot a 72 at 900m on last relay........WOW

JP, its was a first time meeting you, hope not the last ))) great shooting

Hi Guys,
Just got home from Ottawa an hour ago. Stayed over to enjoy a quiet night in the barracks before making the drive.
For ALL of you who made it, you all know just how fantastic Saturday was (worth waiting through the winter) and how interesting Sunday
and Monday were. Great match which ran very smooth, had excellent target workers and just a great group of shooters to
chat with. Thanks to Serge,Scott,Chris and all that worked to make this happen again this year.
Enjoyed catching up with old buds(we get to see who made it through the winter) and also meeting a good number of new faces.
It wasn't long ago when us F'ers were just the few......
I really enjoyed getting to shoot with some new faces (to me anyways) and share some lies . Truly some impressive talent and I hope
more shooters can be encouraged to come out and give this sport a try.

Vic Daze weekend always signals the REAL start to the match season and always makes me realize just how much MORE I gotta get done... soon.
Good meeting you fellas. See you again this summer.
By the way...I share most loads -BUT there are some I wouldn't even consider making public :)
Regards
G

Does not impress..

All I am saying is that shooting is a gentleman's sport. The only way I learned was from other shooters sharing their knowledge and experience with me. Then getting out and gaining that experience for myself. I now pass on what limited experience I have gained to others.

Is this not what this entire web forum and members are all here for? To share their knowledge and love for the sport?

Maybe I am wrong, but I have been to a couple of matches and would say that what powder Jonathan was using really doesn't matter. It's obvious he is a top notch shooter and its his skill that won him the match!

I don't need to make this any bigger then it is.

Congratulations on your win.
