Just picked up a pair of .69 cal cannons.
Question is where does one find .69 cal round balls?
Anyone know of any moulds or have a mould they would like to sell?
Anyone with experience with charge volumes, projectiles etc with these?
These cannons are complete with carriers, approx 15" long (cannon not including carrier) and were made in Germany and are proofed and serial numbered.
Your input is greatly appreciated.

the old brown bess flint was .69 caliber- all remarks regarding the rifles should also apply to the cannon, including the moulds

Sorry, these things were brought back from Germany by a freind of mine when he served there in the late 70's/ early 80's. They were sitting around gathering dust for years until he finally decided to get rid of them for a nominal fee.
I do not know if you can still purchase these. They are about 3X larger than those at Wholesale Sports.

We have a 1" bore Cannon in the shop, the bore is similar to the British 4 bore, and could be loaded similarly ie: up to 12 drams of BP...330 grs....like anything else in the store, it's for sale if the price is right.

A buddy of mine has one of the top pictured one. Bought it at Gettysburg at least 25 years ago.
Be very careful where you shoot it. A .69 cal ball can go a long way.

The brown Bess was a .75/.76 cal, not a .69.

I think you are confusing the Bess with the Charleville musket ;)

Thanks for all the input so far.
Ordered some balls from MT Chambers to tide me over while I wait for my Lee mould from Higginsons.
Any load suggestions?
