6BR Rifle Build in Canada?

Whats the optimal twist rate for this caliber? Most guys running a 1:8? 1:10? Barrel length? Thanks.

Depends on what projectile you plan on shooting.

My 6BRA is chambered in a 1:7.5 twist 4 groove Krieger, 28". 1:8 twist is also common for the heavier projectiles.

I shoot 105 Berger Hybrids.

go visit gobigtactical, prefit barrels, custom actions etc. In a wide variety of calibers. Don't think they have a 6br in stock, but they do have variations on the 6br: 6xc 6gt 6bra etc which are all equal or better as the BR

While they are still great cartridges, the 6XC and 6GT are not variants of the 6BR. BR based cartridges like the Dasher, BRA, BRX are just the easy button when it comes to consistency and accuracy.

My BR is the same (28" 7.5 twist 4 groove Krieger).

VERY impressed with it.

This ^^^^ is true.

The most striking thing about the BR based calibers is how easy they are to get to work well. Not fussy at all.

Another cartridge you may want to look at is the 6 GT, seems to be very popular of late.

I would buy a good action new or used, barrels are cheap, KS Arms would be your one stop shop in Canada actions/barrels and builds, JC Custom and IBI are also Cdn barrel options, I use Defiance Actions/Benchmark barrel, I would go with a Chassis, they’re ugly but functional.
Gunsmiths- Gary Flach, Mitch Kendal, KS Arms, Andy Voight Dragon Hill Gunsmithing, Go Big Tactical, I’m sure there’s many more,

Gary Eakin of Bighorn Sales in Houston BC is a great place for all your build parts as well as he’s pretty knowledgeable as he shoots a 6mm Dasher himself.

My 6br uses a 8 twist Rob McLennan barrel.
I also shoot 105 Berger Hybrids.
Had good results with the Lapua 105g SC also.

Varget of course.
But great results with N 150 too.

Any one else use N 150?
It is currently available is several stores shown on the top of the page here.

My bad was just rambling off 6mm calibers GBT has prefit barrels for that have a similar use to the BR

6BR build.

How and where do you want to shoot?

Are you going to shoot just for yourself or plan to compete? If for yourself depending what you want, determines to stay with a factory action, my preference Rem 700, or custom. Stock choice is dependent on that.

So many choices to make. If you allready have the right platform to rebarrel you can just get away with a new barrel, chambering job, dies, brass bullets and appropriate powder. Far from the 6K starting pricetag that has been mentioned. I have had rebarreled Rem 700's in .223 and 6 BR that has far exceeded my expectations as far as what I want in for myself shooting.

My competition rifles are another story.

I use the Berger 105 or Lapua Scenar 105 as well over varget. Going to try some N540 to see how it does as well

did anyone mention KS Arms barrelled actions? Not sure of budget or end goal. twist rate matches to intended bullets as stated above. An 8-twist is on the edge for the heavier bullets in a BR. Move up the family (more muzzle velocity) and it is less marginal. I have a 26" BR in 7.5 twist from JC that seems to like everything. Loads built up on H4895 and IMR 4166. It is my fave cartridge.
