I have a 26" 1-7 twist 6br barrel I am going to be loading for my wife or daughter to shoot, with 108gr eld m's. I have 8.5lbs of Winchester Staball 6.5 that I have nothing to load with, so I'm wondering if anyone has tried using Staball 6.5 in 6br yet? I'm finding slow powders work great with heavier bullets in 6.5 creedmoor and many other cartridges, so I cant see why the Staball 6.5 wouldn't work in the 6br with 105-115gr bullets? It is just a bit slower than H4350 which many have reported great success using in 6br, and again, using heavier 105gr+ bullets.

Just following up, we shot a pressure ladder 3 shots per charge 29.5, then 30-35gr in 1gr increments and just started getting into the lower danger zone at 35gr charge weight of Staball6.5. Then proceeded to smash steel plates up to 500yds with 10x 32gr cartridges I loaded. The staball seems to be working great in the 6br behind the 108eld m’s and burns a lot cleaner then when I was using it in my 6.5 creedmoor. We settled at 34gr charge weight and estimate velocity around the 2800fps mark based off of elevations dialled to impact at 300/400/500yds. The 108eld m is sitting 20thou off lands.

M goto powder for my 6mmbr's and 105'-108's has always been Varget with 4895 running a close second.
However I have 4 pounds of Staball so maybe I'll give it a try just for yucks!

How much Varget or 4895 can you get in there without getting into the danger zone? I thought it would give an edge if you could get in the 90%+ case fill range safely and might be more consistent, or not? I read guys are using H4350 as well and physically cannot get enough powder in the case to get into trouble. Good velocities as well!

Well we grossly over estimated the velocity because I forgot how high the bc’s are with the heavy 6mm bullets. We chronographed average velocity today of 2716fps. Elevation dialled for 900yds was 7.5mils which was only .2 more than my 6.5cm.

30 grains of varget is about the standard load. If you can't get a 6MMBr to shoot with that and around 1.840 at the ogive there is something else wrong for sure:p
