6mm-06, 6mm-06AI, 240 Gibbs, 243 Super Rockchucker...?

6x62 ? ..... 9.3x62 necked down to 6mm .

a person should be able to easily form brass from 30-06 and 280 / 270 brass just by necking it down , forming a false shoulder and firing .

this wouldn't be much different than a ai version of the 6mm-06 ...... just 6x62 just seems to roll off the tongue better :D

I have a 240 Gibbs. Mauser, Douglas sporter barrel. I can get the 85 gr. bullets to near 4000, but have had pressure issues sporatically. The first one I made was a rechambered Parker Hale 243. It self destructed using Win. 785 powder and 85 gr. bullets. We think it was caused by unburned powder plugging the case neck, but are obviously not sure. Swelled the chamber (PH have a goofy taper) Rebarrelled with a 29" Douglas and still have it, although for no known reason it still leaves the odd primer pocket real loose. Mine has a homemade detachable single stack mag and feeds just fine. Had it for 30+ yr. but only about 2-300 rd. thru it. My 6-284 is more accurate and sees more use. Similar performance, stops most yotes in their tracks. Major hide damage. Shot a few jackrabbits with spectacular results. Have fun with it, Mark

Has anyone tried a 6mm-300WSM?
I have a 270 WSM and might have rebarreled to 7mm-300WSM or even 6.5mm-300WSM but this thread got me thinking!

Alex

Ballistically it should be very close to the 6mm Mach IV. I recall reading about one (in Precision Shooting maybe?) Some years back, but I don't remember the details, unfortunately. - dan
