6mm-204 Dies?

Where would One source this kind of "custom" die?
Is it a thing ?
Anyone got ?

Reamer ?

Thinking of doing something like this , as soon enough Il spend $500 on brass and projies.... ($1.70 per case here)
A ream job might be say $350... An brass for Days..


The alternative Im just going to work out how to expand the neck up to 6.5mm or 7mm say to create a false shoulder an shoot .223 brass in it?!?

At one time RCBS would make custom dies but I recall it required a chamber casting for custom or non standard cartridges. That’s almost 30 years ago when I started reloading. Might want to contact them or other companies to see if they can help and get an idea of the cost and wait times for custom orders,

Thanks ! Sounds like a expensive project from Australia for that !

I'll put the feelers out incase anyone's got something similiar--

I read an article where they had Gold series rcbs custom dies...
 
so,,you're basicaly building an old time 6 x 47 remington,a 222 magnum case opened up to 6mm.??
there is still still dies out there for that,not easy to find,but there out there,i found a set last year,

Not quite. The 6mm-204 has the shoulder moved forward, a shorter neck, and I believe a different shoulder angle. Basically a small increase in case capacity. Whelenlad has a 6x47 already. Me too. Good cartridge, I like it. But I've entertained thoughts of the 6mm-204 before, myself. Dies have been made (it's not a new idea, and I seem to recall an article about the cartridge in Handloader or Rifle magazine). Or get a reamer from your favorite reamer maker, and some die blanks, and do both your chamber and your dies. Slightly different process, but I've owned a few sets made that way (and the rifles they were for) and they worked well. - dan

i also have a custom 6x47 rem,built on a 722 action,massive 20 inch barrel,,in a 40X stock,,old time scope on it,i bought it because i like oddball stuff,and this thing looked pretty cool,,and i have lots of 222 mag brass for my 222 magnum 700 already,so it was an easy fit,these old things shoot great,,

Have you tried reaching out to Redding? I know they do custom dies, then have Prophet River order it if they have it available
 
Redding may be an option and I believe hornady will produce custom dies as well if you contact them. I’m not sure how the import/export process works for you there? I have ordered direct from whidden back when they were doing custom stuff but that might be more of a process in Aus?

No i got one! ha ha! but the Brass is a little pricey maybe-- Nosler is $450 for 250X and Sako is $171 for 100X

but it is proberly all cheaper to buyx200 cases than to Ream, re barrell or set back etc.... :)

it would be paperwork basicalllyyyyyy- but costs ontop of costs i would assume!
i have asked around aus to see whats about but the more we discuss it the more a 6-223 is more likely the best result - thank you!

thanks for that, it looks wild- but not what im chasing i rekon, not after lr high bc bullets-
i think i am where i wanna be with it all, 26gr powder for 85gr projie at around 2750fps.. sure a couple more fps never hurts but the rifles accuracy is awesome.
the downside is proberly just the cost of new brass , being 222 magnum - everything else is 'easier' to source brass but the dies an custom stuff well outweighs the project , with cost in mind.

having the 6x47 dies already is the keeper- an ill tinker with ways to resize 204 brass down the track-
i bought 100 X new SAKO 222 mag brass and have been given another 70 loaded rounds with Sierra projies.. so about 300 cases to its name...
brass is available here though for sure (222rm) just starts to become quite a lot less effecient per shot until the brass has been done several times :p

True everywhere for 222 Rem Mag brass. I don't remember the last time I saw any in a gun shop. That was some Nosler stuff that was apparently made of gold considering the cost. Don't know that the Sako stuff sells for here. - dan
