I have a chance to buy a Savage 99 that has been wildcatted to 6mm/3030 AI.I cannot seem to find much info about it he caliber.Any help or info would be great. Thanks

Not saying it to be rude,

but I was curious myself when I saw your post, I googled it

I found a ton of stuff right away. I don't know if that helps, but there was even reloading data

Unless you are really interested in this rifle, I don't know why you would buy it. Can't you get a Savage 99 in 250-3000? and won't have to deal with oddball dies and fire forming brass?

Be about the same to resize for as my 7-30. Neck it down, load and fire. Sounds like a fun little gun. Especially if you got dies.

As I said- if you are really interested and that is your *thing* then sure, go for it. I'd rather have the .250 Savage, and spend my time shooting and hunting, not necking up and fireforming. ;)

The Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions says "Make from .30-30 Win. Form case in form die. Trim to length , chamfer and F/L size.

For a load: 36 grs 3031 with a 75 gr bullet for 3430 FPS.

Only so many seasons, sooner or later you have to go home. That's when projects like this get to be fun. I've not done a 6mm-30-30, but I used to shoot a 7mm Int-R, which is very similar except in 7mm. Used to push a 140 bullet to 2400 fps in a 14" bbl. - dan

thanks for all the info.i normally do internet research or check on here but was not finding much at all.i do have dies and brass with the rifle.it is really cheap so i am losing nothing buy owning it.

How did it shoot? Looks like you owned it for a month or so. I see you are selling it:

Next is Savage 99 with internal rotary mag.It has been rebarreled to 6mm/3030 ackley improved, neat little wildcat round.I do not have the time to play with like i thought i would so it goes up for sale.It is in good shape barrel is nice and bright but has replacement but stock but works great.Comes with 4x banner scope and rings.Function and points great as well. Will also comes with dies and necking dies so you do not have to fireform brass for the rifle. The necking dies are very expensive.Looking to get $700 shipped but dies are super pricey

I guess the dies and stuff got a lot pricier after you bought them, eh? :p

Just curious..............

just testing the waters do not care if it sells or not, wife just bugging me about number of rifles i own now.will find out next week how it shoots doing some loads for it now.just got the few days ago.the necking dies were $70 with price tag from years ago.handles to sweet to sell unless someone really wants it.i really like how the ammo looks quite cool actually.will post pics later
