I bought an Axis last year but haven't had time to even open the box.
If I did hunt with it, I'd hunt whitetails but I have several others for that.
I'm not sure of the ammo situation yet.
I'd like a good cup and core Soft point if I did.
It'll probably take a few years for the regular bullet manufacturers to bring out a Soft Point for it.
I don't like Hornady bullets in these speedy new rounds. We've had issues with shattered bullets on deer bone.
6.5 Creed in particular. Soft point cup and core work great in that caliber.

Which model you get ? How’s it shooting ? RJ
20” heavier barrel, green synthetic stock. Shot the factory 108’s 1/2” and I have a 1/2” load with 103’s and varget. Trying to get some more speed with leverevolution. Still playing with loads
I wouldn't lump the 6mm ARC into a "speedy" category
I gave my 9yr old son a 6mm ARC for Christmas, it's proving to be accurate. I even sneak it out of the house when he isn't looking

Just been shooting factory ammo so far, have 33 boxes to burn up before I start reloading. The 103gr Precision Hunter is doing just under 2600 fps from the 18" barrel, and 80gr V-Match is 2835 fps. Haven't tried the 108gr ELD Match load yet
lots of bullets on the shelf to try : 58gr Vmax, 70gr Blitzkings, 80gr ELD-VT, 90gr Cx, 95gr LRX, 103 ELDx, 108 ELDm, 110 ATIP. Powders to try : H322, CFE223, Hodgdon LVR, StaBALL Match, Varget, StaBALL 6.5

It's an excellent cartridge...doesn't burn out the barrel throats like some other .243/6mm cartridges. But, ammo selection is very poor. If you're into reloading(which is not that hard or expensive), everything changes. Lots of 6mm/243 bullet selection. I cast my own lead bullets to make plinking even cheaper. Ehgun
For coyotes and gophers I imagine it's going to be *quite* effective. I can't imagine a problem taking deer with it either, it's not far behind some of the larger 6mm cartridges simply due to efficiency and diminishing returns.
I'm interested in its .22-cal baby brother as a potential rebarrel for a 700, 7-twist for some long bois. Will need to open up the bolt face a touch but the ARC cartridges are looking pretty neat.

I ditched the Accustock and put it right in the HNT26, so I have no experience with out of the box performance. I added a bigger bolt handle too which helps the little guy run the bolt. It's certainly lighter than the 110 Tactical model due to the Proof barrel. It feeds good and is pretty accurate, the best is yet to come for precision once I start handloading

I like the fast twist, and the case is large enough. As you say, it won't be any quicker than the 6x47 Rem. But with the right bullets it will certainly do for any whitetail that walks. - dan
Best 30 gr powder class 6mm going if you want factory availability in rifles and ammo. Only 6mm in that powder class for factory ammo and guns lol. The other 6mm short fats it competes with like br/ppc/dasher would argue top spot for that 6mm powder class otherwise. Think the dasher holds 10 shot 1000 yard record still?
Anyway these are heavy for cal high sd options beat suited for penetration and increasing hit probability at distance due to high bc and sd. Neither of which you need for coyotes and gophers. There are better attributes out there for that. A .243 would make my list for that as only 6mm and run light for cal. A .22-250 makes even more sense than that and maybe a .223 or .204 if you had to have and extra short AR length action platform. The .22 arc is same thing, heavy for cal deep penetrating high sd options that suit big game much better than gophers and coyotes.

And all the Grendels will boringly shoot little groups on steel at 500 yards. All my factory 6.5 Grendels have been like that with factory Hornady eld-m ammo. The 6.5 will be boring to 700, add 150-170 yards for the 6 Grendel(arc...same thing), and I haven’t run the .22 numbers but it will run way out there also. All three are the wrong formula for coyotes and gophers...speed with low sd and light for cal is what you want there. Not slow high sd heavy for cal.
