I have been loading for this cartridge for a year now - have shot some crazy crazy groups with 29 and a bit of Varget with a 107 smk, prepped Lap brass, wolf primer, 272 no-turn reamer, concentricity 2 thou or less, Benchmark #8 contour barrel... however, these groups are not as consistent as I would like, and i tend to get 2-1 groups more often than not.
I tried everything from 20 jam to 30 jump in 10 thou increments - sweet spot was initially 10 jam, but after 100 or so rounds, with the barrel broken in, i tried again and found 10 jump was the place to be - but still 2 thru same hole, one shot usually 1/2" away (200yds)
My question is, why would the 10 jam change to 10 jump - barrel break-in?? Then addressing the 2-1 groups - makes me think i haven't found the right seat depth yet, and should try finer increments? Different powder/bullet/primer?
I hope to get some 105 hybrids and try those next - if same issue, then try H4895, and then cci450's. Sound like the right plan of attack? any further suggestions on something I may be missing? It may be my technique, but want to rule out load stuff first.
Maybe I am chasing ghosts?
Load development was both ladder and OCW - results both agreed on the load.
Thanks for the tips!

My gun equipment is:

Trued Rem 700P
Krieger Heavy Varmint 28"
Twist rate: 1:7.5"

Load: Varget 31.2gr
Bullet: 105gr Berger Hybrid Target
Primer: BR-4
Jam or Jump: Jam into the barrel.
It shoots ragged hole many times.

That's what my rifle likes.
Hope it helps.

6BR Great caliber. If your groups are .5" at 200m, that's not bad. Varget is a good powder for 6BR, wolf primer or standard primers will work fine. If the jump and jam is changing it may be you (technique perhaps may need some work). BULLET, I like the Berger 105 VLD for short distances the Hybrids are not needed , out to say 500m. I find a larger group tells a better story (5). If you can leave the first target on the board for the day and overlap it with the fresh targets for each group; end of the day that target will tell you a better story than 3 shot groups. This is where a crony comes in velocity changes can make a difference.
Enjoy

Yes, am working on technique - but can shoot other rifles to consistent results, just not this one. I will add that the 1/2" 200 are what the gun is capable of or even better, have even done (i assume an educated fluke) 1/2" at 300, but NONE of those small groups are consistent - its the 2-1 thats driving me bonkers! Sometimes its a vertical 2-1, other times horizontal 2-1. POI is the same place with all groups, and will try 5 shot groups in the future, but want to figure out this flyer (?) thing first before wasting rounds. All testing is at 200.
Its looking like i will continue to perfect technique with this rifle then try minor load component changes until it all gets consistent. Been using the inexpensive shooting crony, but the more i use it, the more i see the value in a better unit. Placed 20ft down from muzzle, the velocity is all over the place so i stopped using it. I even took 1250fps 22 LR and got anywhere from 1150 to 1300 fps, same gun, same day. 6 br gave me 2700 - 2900, which i don't believe the fluctuation - in either 22lr or 6 br .
I think my OCD is getting the best of me...
