6mm build

Mine 6mmBR is on a Sportco action with a 1:8 twist, 30"Krieger barrel.
it makes the trip to 1K with sling and irons with no issues as long as I am doping the wind properly.
I usually just shoot it inside 600 though.

Well, you said you don't plan to compete or hunt with it, so it's really up to you. 24-26" is pretty common in general. You could go shorter for a handier rifle, or longer for more muzzle velocity.

6BR or one of it's derivatives is also my vote. Personally, my wife and I have 6BRA's and I absolutely love that little cartridge, it impresses me every time I go out.

These cartridges are super easy to load for, if you can't find a good shooting load with 6BR/BRX/BRA/Dasher/etc, you may as well stop shooting and take up a new hobby like knitting. Small groups, tight SD's/ES, little recoil and long barrel life. There's nothing to not like.

The feeding issues have been sorted out years ago. There's mag kits and dedicated mags, which work well with any of the modern actions out these days.

Thanks for chiming in, I respect your insight. I will be getting a 6BR barrel spun up this summer

I know you run an Impact, what mags/kits are you running for your BRA?

OP, I think a 6BR is likely the way to go. I shot a 6.5 creed the last few years and just switched to dasher this year. It's incredibly accurate and pleasant to shoot. As a target gun, it's hands down the 6mm I'd choose.

Thats what I've decided on. I have wanted a BR for a long time so this is the time to finally pull the trigger. I have an action and barrel in the mail for my new 6.5 creed build. Once I do some testing with that setup and accuracy looks good, I will get another barrel from the same guy in 6BR. I appreciate all the insight from you guys on this one.

I actually don't have an Impact. My match rifle uses a Mausingfield action, and my wife's rifle is a LP Fuzion, which is very similar to the Impact in function.

I started with AICS mags using primal rights 6BR mag kits, which worked well, and have recently started using MDT's 6BR mags. So far I'm really liking the MDT's, haven't had any real issues with them yet, but I'm still early on with playing with them, only have a few hundred rounds between the two actions on MDT mags.

My bad, thought I read you ran impact somewhere. I've heard mixed reviews on the MDT's but I think I'm going to order a few to try. Good to hear hey're working for you.

The nice thing with MDT, is that if you have any issues, they are going to take care of you.

I thought I read somewhere that there was a batch of mags produced earlier on that experienced issues, but they are sorted out now. I think I read that on SH somewhere, but don't quote me. MDT feels they have whatever issues shooters were experiencing fixed.

The springs on my mags are pretty tight, it's hard to get more then 10 rounds in them, however I rarely run more then 10 rounds in my mags anyways, so that doesn't bother me much. They will break in and loosen up over time. I've noticed while loading the mags that sometimes the follower gets hung up sometimes after inserting a round, and needs a whack with the hand to get unstuck, but I haven't faced that issue shooting yet. I may take all my mags apart and polish the insides with fine grit sandpaper anyways, perhaps that will be my project today.

Like any mag for any cartridge, it's always beneficial to tinker with the feed lips and polish the insides of the feed lips to optimize feeding. But overall, fairly happy so far with these mags.
