Hi folks. Just had a brain fart. Can I use a 6mm Creedmoor barrel and ream it to 243 Win ? Does it work on paper and has anybody here any practical experience doing it ?
In theory it might work. I know that the 6CM is shorter than the 243win, the question is, is it fatter (taper) ? I can't pull the SAAMI specs right now.
Background : I've been shooting the 243 win with long, fast-twist custom barrels and 105s for longer than the 6CM is around and see no reason to change that. I'm also setup perfectly for the 243win and don't feel like it is worth spending money on 6CM loading equipment. However, I can buy a 6CM barrel for a decent price right now, but it would only make sense if I could run it as a 243 win.
