I just picked up a 6mm Creedmoor. I have some 95gr Hornaday SST and 103gr ELD-X. I have IMR 4350, H4350, RL 17 and numerous other powders to play with. The rifle is a Ruger American Predator. I don't have a OAL modified case guage yet, so I'll have to stay within recommended lengths.

Anyone have the same rifle in 6mm Creedmoor? What works for you?

Absolutely love the calibre. By far, my favourite rifle to take out for deer, wolves, coyotes. Knocks deer down great with 103gr eldx or 108 Berger Elite Hunters.

I've been working up loads for the 105gr Berger VLD bullets, with H4350 and H4831. Loads in the high 2800fps and 2950 ish are the most accurate so far.

I would use the loctite method for OAL in that rifle to start, measure the OAL and subtract .020" and go from there providing it fits into the magazine. Then start working up loads for those bullets with the powders you have on hand. Hornady is stingy with load data, so I would like at Hodgdon data first to see what they've got.

Got out last week to test large primers against small primers. 105 gr. berger bullets and 39.5 gr H4350 and the same bullets with 43gr. H4831sc. The small primers won every group, the small primer groups were .10 smaller in every group i shot. I have a few more test loads made up to test, need to get the cows out to fall grazing and the weather to smarten up.

I have an Insite arms custom build 6mm Creedmoor, with the 109gr berger long range hybrid target bullet on top of 40.5gr IMR 4350 it will shoot tiny little bug holes 1/2" average, my best is .285" but I'm old and my eye's aren't as good as they used to be, that same charge behind the 105gr lapua scenar OTM bullet is also very accurate, I have a bushnell elite tactical XRS 4.5 - 30 x 50mm FFP Mil scope on it, out to 1000 yards it's deadly but after that it starts to run out of steam. It weights in at 19.2 lbs so needless to say it's not a hunting rig but I have a few places where I pack it in and set up to call coyotes, shot one last fall at 685 yards, just rolled him. Below is the build sheet

Mack Bros Evo Stainless Action
Krieger 1/7.5 MTU 26"
Bix'n Andy Tac Sport Pro
MDT XRS Chassis BLACK
10/12rnd AICS Mag
Heathen Brake 4 Port G2
Cerakote Graphite Black
3/8moa Guarantee with Target

I have brass with both SRP and LRP for my 6mm creedmoor so I loaded up some identical loads with 40.5gr IMR4350 and 105gr Barnes match burners, for the small primers I used CCI 450 SRMP and for the large primers I used Fed 210 then headed off to the range to test them. The SR brass was Lapua and the LR brass was Hornady.
The rifle is an insite arms build the scope is a bushnell elite tactical XRS - 4.5 - 30 x 50mm FFP Mil the gun complete weighs in at 19.2 lbs.

I shot 2 groups of 5 shots each with both, it's a small sample size I know but figured if there is a big difference it would show up.

CCI 450 - average velocity 3011 ES 34.7 SD 12.6 average of both groups .512"

FED 210 - average velocity 3011 ES 26.5 SD 10.15 average of both groups .521"

Strangely enough both were identical average velocity, the LRP had a better ES and SD but the groups were just a tad larger by .009" which could be the shooter

The best group was with the FED 210 @ .387 but also the worst group @ .655"

There is clearly no winner as both shot really well and stay around that magical .500" that I am looking for.

I have more loaded but really didn't have time to shoot any more groups as I was also doing some load development for my 6.5 PRC with 143gr ELDX and my 7 PRC with 175gr ELDX so I had a lot of shooting to do.

Anyway it's fun to play and I love burning gun powder.
