6mmbr bullets in 105-108

Check out Hirsch Precision for 105gr Lapua Scenar bullets.
Others that are readily available in Canada are Sierra 107gr MK, Hornady 105 gr Amax, Berger 105gr VLD.

105 lapua Scenars have one of the lowest BC of all 6mm match bullets in their weight class, (G1.484 G7 .248)and they are an undersized bullet, so they are known to be difficult to make work in .237 bores.

The Berger HUNTING MACTH 105 VLD's are the best, and easiest to make work.

We sell many thousands of Lapua 6mm bullets, BC .530 and they are the choice of our CISM team as well as many 6mm competitors. I guess they only shoot at Connaught, the East Coast and internationally. Same goes for .30 154(600 BR record) and 6.5 bullets, used by such as Canada's top FClass shooter, Gord Ogg, who is champ this year, again!

Most guys knock the Lapua bullets because they are to cheap to buy them so they justify it by saying they are no good and others repeat what they have heard and have not tried for themselves. They have always been more accurate than anything else I have tried in my rifles but they do not kill very well. If you just shoot targets for score then buy Lapua and give them a try.

I have not tried the 6mm Lapua bullets in my 6BR, but have had excellent luck with the 6.5mmm 123gr in my 6.5x47. As far as killing things with them, the coyotes sure don't seem to like them. I have also had great success with the .308 154gr in my .308. Very accurate bullets, and exceptional service from Hirsch Precision. Its nice not to have to wait for stuff to come in when you want to place a order.

I bought 5 boxes. I can't get them to shoot as well as the Bergers do. Not that I am going to give up, but the Bergers just shot so damn well.

To bergers credit and to our improved shooting, they are constantly trying to improve on their bullet designs.

The only bullets they have changed were driven by customer demands.

The orig and still ubber popular 105gr VLD is still the same as it was years back. It is now in an orange box with a 'hunting' tag. I have been told the profile is the same as it always was but BC values were modified when Mr Litz took over the real world testing. Same J4 jacket too.

What they are doing is adding more and more variants which, for a dealer, is a royal PITA.

Their new production method for the target VLD has made a very consistently shooting bullet but with a sig lower BC. I am getting feedback of shooters getting very small groups with these slugs BUT not my choice if shooting far in a gale.

Great product for the wrong audience.

The next baby about to get delivered is the HYBRID profile. No release date but likely at the SHOT show. Customers want an easier to tune bullet not so critical on bullet/lands engraving AND maintain or improve the BC.

Well, this Hybrid profile is providing this type of performance in their two bullets already released.

No doubt all these new profiles, shapes, weights, boxes can be confusing and some just get frustrated BUT the upside is we have a bullet company that is actually developing new stuff ALL the time. For better or worse....

Vs the established ones that have not changed a thing in decades.

According to the research done by Brian Litz, the Scenars have an average G1BC of .484, and even at 3000 fps, the G1BC is less than .500

Lapua makes a very consistent bullet for sure but i have never been able to get them (the 6mm 105) to shoot in anything! I am a huge Lapua fan, but this bullet is an anomaly.

Lapua 6mm 105s starting at 2998 fps at muzzle have 1438 fps at 900 metres. This is not calculated data, but actual Dopplar Radar data.

Whether they shoot or not can only be determined by testing in individual rifles, but the quality control is there, as is reasonable proven ballistics.

Peter

Hmmmm... Let's see, last time (2003) I shot my 6mmBR in our ISSF 300M match I scored 597 using the Lapua 105 (this was not F-class but ISSF compliant as god meant it to be).

I'm going to shoot ISSF 300M again in november at the Championship of the Americas in Rio, I hope some of the previous posters will keep me in their prayers as I am doomed it seems...

Peter,

My best 300M international score is 595 in Moscow 1990 ISSF World championships, good for 12th place.

In smallbore ISSF 50M prone I was world record co-holder at 600/600 points twice (1986 Suhl, DDR and 1987 Zurich, SUI) until the target were reduced after the 1988 Olympics.

What can I say, I'm an old fool, still going at it...

It's Dr. Gale Stewart PhD, chemistry, is it not and we appreciate hearing from world champions and we know that you are still shooting very well. Also appreciate that you pay your bills on time!

Best regards,

Peter
