6mmbr's annealing temperatures seem questionable...

I like the finely divided metal idea for heat transfer, but I worry about possible safety concerns. The more finely divided any reagent is, the more surface area to volume it has, and thus the more quickly it can react. For instance, the thermite reaction involves finely divided aluminum reacting with finely divided rust.

Even if you created thermite accidentally due to your aluminium powder being contaminated with rust, you're still far below the temperature required to initiate combustion. A torch flame wouldn't even do that, you need something substantially higher like burning magnesium to light it.

Annealer rental

I'm going to buy the Grizzly machine off of the EE for $450.00, and then I'll rent it out to you fellows, maybe save a life or two. FS

Why would I need a rotary annealing machine when I already have a CNC one that allows the timing to be controlled more precisely? Both suffer the same setup and repeatability issues associated with any torch setup...

If our discussion bores you, simply ignore it.

I got them off of ebay, out of the US, two BenzOmatic JT539. These are really nice because they also have a regulator, and not just a valve. I have the fitting on the way to connect them to a 20 lbs. BBQ tank also.

What type of fitting is required for you to attached this to your tank? Couldn't you just attach a BBQ hose directly to the torch?

Thank you could attach two BBQ hoses to. Be great for two flame application.
