Got this buck yesterday morning with a 25-06 at about thirty yards.Four good bucks seen in about ten minutes, glad I waited for this guy to come out of a little draw.I had a 5x5 in my scope, very nice but not quite as heavy in the main beams for a minute or two and this one walked out right behind him.The first one did not run even after the shot. The bucks were heavy in the rut.Brought them in with just a grunt call,no rattling as I forgot the darned antlers at home.Good one day hunt!Took me about two hours to get a quad into where he was.Tough walk, tougher for the quad. The bullet,a 100 grain hornady at about 3500 fps out of a savage 112 lrpv, took him in the front of the chest and did a fair bit of damage. He dropped instantly. The front lshoulder was busted up pretty good so that had a bit to do with the instant drop I think.I recovered the bullet, looks pretty darned good for that range at that velocity, will weigh it later.I will try to posta couple pics. The main beams ara bit over 24 inches long with about a 20 inch inside spread.

Boy you guys and those big WT's are really starting to piss me off ;)...why can't I find one like that  Congradulations are definitely in order :)

Thanks alot guys.I might have passed on him if I had not worked so damned hard to get into the area they were at and have him come so close,it was one of those "perfect"moments in hunting where everything comes together so well you just can't pass it up.I really wanted to try the 25-06 as well and it worked well, the bullet only wound up weighing about 52 grains when I found it but it did take out a fair bit of bone and is a nice mushroom.
