Looking at putting togheter a 6XC. It looks like the 1:8 twist is mostly used even thou I've seen 1:7.5 as well. What barrel lenght is recommended for this caliber? Please give some input if you have experience with this caliber.

First you need to figure out what bullets you plan on shooting. Then figure out what kind of shooting you plan on doing.Long distance might help if your barrel was a little longer vs short range plinking.

Twist rate depends on your choice of bullets up to 107s use 1 in 8 the 115 require 1 in 7.5. Now just to muddy the waters a bit the choice of calibers 6x47L, 6XC, 243Win or 243 Win ACKLEY. I'm a fan of the 243Ack, but any of them will work, some are simply more of a pain in the rear than others.
Enjoy. Bill

6x47L..... over hyped. .243 cal.... why would we have invented the 6xc ?

Some guys yes shoot the 107's out of a 8" twist but past 600y most of the guns you see will be sporting the 7.5" twist shooting the 115gn Dtac's and bergers. This is the bullet the caliber was pretty much designed for. The only people that use the 107gn bullets are the ones wishing they had a 7.5" and 115gn bullets.

My 6xc has a 27" barrel with a 7.5" twist.
