7-30 Waters to 7x57?

Would it be possible to rechamber a rifle from 7-30 Waters to 7x57 Mauser?

A 7-30 is a rimmed round based on the 30-30 case. A 7x57 is rimless, and it ain't going to be a cheapie to convert. my 2 cents,JITC

Is the 7-30 brass dried up? I would think those Hornady 139 flat nose bullets would be hard to get.

It's for a Contender, I just bought one off the EE. I was thinking that if ammo is scarce I could rechamber it, now I think I'll have to become a reloader.

Hell you can easily make brass from 30-30 cases! Just get a FL die and away you go.In a contender SS you can use any 7mm bullet pointed or otherwise...........You can make a 7X57R but only Norma makes ammo at $60 a box..............Harold

You could try and go the 7x57R route, and form your brass from 444 Marlin, but it seems to me that, it's probably easiest to leave it as is and form 7-30 Waters cases out of 30-30 brass. check out ww w.zefarm.com, as they have some 7-30 Waters stuff listed for sale.

I don't see the problem.

Brass, resize 30-30 brass and reload with whatever 7mm bullets you want, in the contender you don't have to worry about having a flat nose.

Gatehouse has a thread somewhere here on reloading with pointed bullets for a 30-30 bolt action, he shortened the necks as well, I don't remember why. But you could do the same.

or you cold sell it to me real cheap.
