I had one and it was extremely accurate but only at the velocity level that a 284 Shehane or 7 SAUM can reach. I elected not to rebarrel another. At the World's in 2013 the guys that brought 7-300 WSM's all regretted bringing them which they had loaded up fast. Velocity above 2920 ish has no advantage and only problems due to pressure.

Barrel life for the 7-300 is about 800 rounds give or take, 7 SAUM is about 1200 rounds give or take, and the Shehane is about 2500 rounds give or take.

They all shoot a 180 Hybrid at the same velocity that the Hybrid seems to like.

If 2900-2950 is all you are trying to get then follow advise up^^^but to shoot them to higher node with reasonable pressure wsm or rsum is pretty much required. Apparently there is a node around 3050-3100 which I believe can be achieved with either short magnum without using double base powders. Barrel life can be a concern.

The guys I shot with all were trying to reach the upper node and all had issues doing so. Particularly in the heat. Most of the guys I talked to since the World's in Raton are all reducing the loads, switching back to either a 284 variant or the Saum but running them at the 2900-2920 node.
