7.5 Swiss just starting out, need help

What brand of press and what brand of dies?
It was a Lee press that had seen a lot of use already. The cheap cast link broke. Weak link on a Lee press. Dies are Lee also. I did notice I had to put way more force on the handle to resize the 7.5 swiss brass than any other caliber that I reload. Just might be a batch of hard brass?

priv brass is made to military specs, usually thicker walls and a bit harder then normal over the counter stuff. That might not go well with the lee press
Also Lee dies suck, because of their super smooth inside finish. It actually INCREASES friction, and makes lube dents more likely. RCBS, CH4D, Hornady, or Redding are good. Hornady dies are probably the best buy, and in my experience, are better quality than RCBS. I use CH4D, but I've noticed that quality on their dies is inconsistent.
As for Lee stuff..... I've had their shellholders go "tink" in three different calibres now, and have had enough problems with other stuff that I mostly avoid them now. The Lee melting pot is still going strong though, after thousands of bullets. And their powder dippers are fine.

I've said it before and I'll say it again......WTF are you guys doing to break your equipment? I load with Lee, dies and presses. Never had a problem. Resizing brass, crimping rounds, general reloading.......
. The only issue I've ever encountered was with Igman 6.5mm brass and the small flash hole. Got the depriming rod stuck in it. Still, it didn't break. Some of you need to cut back on the roids when reloading .
To the OP, sorry I have no idea what dies and such you'll need. Good luck on your search and remember, Win .284 brass can be resized if you can't find 7.5x55mm and K31's have a short throat. Watch your COL's.

I learned this the hard way. COL and projectile shape is really important. The 150 grain slugs have a different ogive than the 180's. Make sure to check that the reload fits the chamber before making 200 of them...Doh!(((Echo))) said:

COL = Cartridge Overall Length??
Here's a SUGGESTED/STARTING O.A.L CHART for the K31s in 7.5x55.
Once you get comfortable with figuring it out for yourself then you wont need it.
Almost all published OAL/COL data for the 7.5x55 are for the longer throat older Swiss rifles, not for the K31.

I have no clue!! My first Lee challenger came to me with an already broken cam link. I used it for 10 years until i got a new link. I resized, de-capped, primed, seated, and crimped on it. Case reforming is the bailiwick of the RockChucker, though.
