Just picked up a k31. I've heard they need to have bullets seated deep due to short throats.
I received lee dies, any issues with these like I've seen elsewhere on the internet?

Thanks in advance!

Do a search on Swiss rifles website or the milsurp forum here for data on overall length.I use RCBS dies but use Lee for many other calibers without problems.

10 grains of Universal Clays with a 150 grain plated bullet makes a nice short range "gallery" load for 7.5 Swiss or any similar cartridge. You could also try the same thing with cast bullets. Unique is the traditional powder for this sort of thing, but Universal Clays is functionally comparable and I have lots on hand.

I couldn't say what my OAL is; I just make a dummy round and seat the bullet deeper until it does not contact the rifling. I can tell you that most bullets will have to be seated pretty deep; Hornady 150 grain FMJs need to be seated well past the crimp groove in my rifle.

Shot mine in some bad weather at 100 back in early November, had 2 great groups , 3 of 5 shots each under an inch. I used 49 and 50 grains of H4831 and 165 grain Hornady interlock plain base. Really nice to shoot, I`ll have to try again when the deep freeze ends. I also used the Lee dies, I loaded too Hodgdon`s recommended length of just over 3 in. When I tried a dummy round for function, the bullet reseated to 2.9 and a bit, but so what , if I need more performance I`ll use the `06. I find the dies just fine, and wouldn`t hesitate hunting with this gun. Cheers

147 grain FMJBT M80 style bullet, pushed by 42.5 grains of IMR4895, Winchester LR primer ,brass length is 2.184 " and the COL is 2.920 ". Gave me extreme accuracy and very pleasant recoil. Same round with 49.0 grains of IMR4350 produced a much flatter flying round and just a small increase in recoil. For my K31 the COL is great. I load for over ten different calibers and all I use is Lee, with no issues at all !

Hodgdon shows 3.060" as the OAL for a 168 grain bullet. Don't believe what you see in the internet about chamber lengths.
