7.5x55 swiss

Some brass is hard to come by. I usually gather brass from commercial loads, new brass, or I watch the gun shows. Its sad that good GP11 brass is berdan primed.

New PRVI brass is not that expensive, check Tradex.

Xreload has the same in bags of 50 for $46.

Make sure the 1F you are looking at is Boxer primed...if it's Berdan GP11 that is probably why it was cheap.

I had some awhile back but sold it. I will be making more empty brass soon. It’s Gp11 ball ammo.

I found Sellier and Bellot brass cased, 174gr for 49.00
Just waiting for the shop to confirm it is Boxer primed.
For this price it is not worth it buying new cases for 46.00 if I can get new ammo with reloadable brass for 49.00

It will be Boxer primed.
20 rounds of S&B for $50 is not really a good deal if you are after brass, compared to 50 pieces/$46.
If you want loaded Boxer primed ammo, again Tradex is the spot $28/20 rounds of PRVI.

The PRVI brass is good brass and have used it. Because the GP 11, while berdan primed is so nice other wise, I had to try reloading it. I found the RCBS berdan decapper worked ok and Murom (Russian) berdan primers worked good.

No, it's 50 per box.

Sellier and Bellot 7.5 X 55 Swiss 174 Gr FMJ, 50 Rds
$48.95

At SFRC.

Go for it then, that's not too bad of a price as long as shipping doesn't kill it.
I've loaded S&B in 8x57 and 7.62x39, it's not bad brass.

I was fooling around one day and made some 7.55 swiss using 284 Win brass. It went bang and fire formed nicely.

That is all I know. Others must have done it as well, and reported if it is a viable option.

All I've ever used for my K31 is 284Win brass...there was no 7.5x55 around when I started loading for it. The slightly smaller rim doesn't cause any issues in these rifles.
GP11 beside my neck sized 284Win...you can see how much the case blows out in these rifles.

The S&B cases should be boxer primed. If it is like most of their brass primer pockets are shallow and have a slight crimp. I have had to deepen pockets with a pocket uniform tool plus chamfer pockets. The brass needs work before it is used. The calibers I have done this to are 357,44,8 Mauser, and 7.62x54R. Cheap is not always better. The S&B brass was given to me so my time is all I have into them. I believe S&B primers are shorter than normal. I have used federal,Winchester and CCI primers and they all seat high unless the pockets are uniformed for depth. My 7.62x54R cases are on their 14th firing with full power loads so the brass does last awhile.

I have been reloading GP11 brass and found RCBS berdan decapper working awesome. For the once fired GP11 brass, I just ran a few turns of a big drilling bit with my hand over the primer pocket and it was pretty easy to remove the crimp.
There was always hang fire using Russian Berdan primer from Canadaammo and I was lucky to find some RWS Berdan primer on CGN and it has been working flawlessly.
Target Shooting Products can bring in RWS Berdan primers, but needs quantity, anyone interested can give them a call for them to see the demand and maybe they are going to bring some into Canada.
I set my loading data for 7.5X55 at 51.2 grains of Reloader 17 and 175 grain 30 cal Berger OTM and produced decent accuracy, usually 10-shot group under 2" @ 300 meters shot from my Hammerli-Tanner rifle.
Several days ago, I saw a guy pushing 155 grain 308 bullets at 3150 fps, so I thought maybe I can push 175 grain Berger OTM over 3000 fps in my Hammerli-Tanner in 7.5X55, so I loaded 15 rounds with Reloader from 51.5 to 55.7 grain with 0.3 grain interval, with 55.7 grain to be just full of loaded case.
Shot it today without any pressure sign straight to 55.7 grain, with the muzzle velocity increasing from 2680 fps to 2971 fps (55.4 grain), but dropped to 2961 for the last round with 55.7 grain.
