Doing my research before buying.

I have a lot of Norinco & Canadian DA/IVI surplus 7.62 and am wondering if these will work fine in a .308 Stag 10. Does not seem to be too much mention on this so far other than the rifle might need some wearing in before it will run 7.62 reliably.

Thoughts? Thanks!

I just fired IVI 7.62 1971 yesterday. Each round was a FTF and weak ejection. Rifle short stroked every time. I do want to try some other 7.62 to check results. No problems when I switched back to .308 factory loads. The IVI was very accurate though.

21Oct18 Edit to update: Fired more 168gr .308 Norma Match, 147gr .308 PRVI and 150gr .308 AE. Got a smile every time I pulled the trigger. Decided to go back and try the 7.62 IVI that I had issues with. With the action being broken in a bit more, there were no problems firing the IVI this time around. Accuracy was good even though I was dealing with high winds the whole time.

I thought Stag 10 is 7.62

Correct me pls !

No stag 10 is a 308. I know I know.. its the same dimensions as 7.62x51. The stag 10 is designed to run 308, but even more it's designed to run hotter 308 to boot! Unfortunately with the stag10 it's a trial and error to figure out what 762 it will run on. I know it will run in hirtenberger surplus for sure! Both mine and my brother in law's stag 10 s ran flawlessly on it. Have heard similar reports as well.

I believe the Stag 10 in .308 actually has the stamp "multi" caliber on the side just to ensure you can shoot 7.62x51 and .308

No that's just stating that's it's a multi calibre capable gun as it is also set up for 6.5 creedmoor as well. And 338 federal if I'm correct.

Farther near the front of the barrel it's stamped 308

the platform is based on the the .308 parent cartridge and is marked multi cal because there are several calibers that use the .308 bolt face so "multiple" calibers can be used on the lower, depending which .308 based cartridge you choose to work with when building your upper(s). Off the top of my head, 6.5cm, 243, 260 roberts(?) , 7mm-08, .308, 7.62 x 51, .338 federal and I think .358 winchester?

Edited my original post, but I am no longer having issues with the 7.62 IVI. I gave it a go again after firing some newer .308 from Norma, PRVI and AE. The action seems to have smoothed out. I had good ejection, lock back on last round. No problems now. I will have to try some other brands of 7.62.
