7.62 NATO - FC vs. LC headstamp

180gr give or take...you will know if the brass is any good once you start loading it. If the primers seat really easy after 2-3 firings, then it's pretty soft.
Personally, I only load IVI NATO brass for the M14 because it's brutal on brass, and once fired is about 25 cents a round and lasts many loadings.
For accurate bolt guns I buy better brass...Lapua, Norma, Peterson, far better for accuracy.
For hunting guns I'm not nearly as concerned, but PRVI is reasonably priced and lasts a long long time as well.

Does anybody have definitive specs on the web thickness of a Lake City 7.62 case? Either with a cut open case or a ‘zeroed out’ rod?
I’ve pulled apart 10 of these FC stamped cartridges, and am taking average measurements. I’ve got a few other NATO/crimped primer cases, but I don’t have a single Lake City NATO case. I’ll post my findings as soon as I get the chance.

If anyone has records of actual 7.62x51 Lake City NATO case weights I'd love to have them for comparison.

One thing you may consider is taking some reloading gear to the range. When I am curious about brass I've never used before, I will fire 5 rounds and keep reloading them until the primer pockets are loose. I was pleasantly surprised with Aguilia .223 brass- went about 13 loads before loose primer pockets. It lets you get a decent handle on what you are dealing with in a short period of time.
