well than an M14 with an aftermarket stock suites the bill. check the photo gallery, some mean looking rifles on there.

There's not alot of offerings in the 7.62x51 non-restricted military rifle world. For the time being, you're basically confined to the M1A/M14.

Maybe, just maybe, you might see a RobArm XCR or FN SCAR in 7.62x51. But honestly, don't hold your breath! Both companies are having serious design, supply and export issues.

Armalite is supposedly testing an AR15 in 7.62X39. Not sure if the new US export restrictions will apply though.

In theory, yes. But as far as rumour goes, only the US factory is making the semi only civilian versions. So.. even if the Belgian factory cranks out a couple thousand units for the rest of the world, it's not gonna happen anytime soon.

There is always the LWRC Teleportation device and the Magpul Massoud in 7.62x51 still vapourware though. Oh and I forgot the Ktec 308 bullpup as well.

Not easy to find, and not so modern looking, but nicer than the M14 M1A is an FN-49 converted to 7.62 NATO.

That's extremely disconcerting.... Is that because the SCAR is a contracted military rifle?

Excuse my ignorance... but wouldn't the LWRC & Massourd fall under the same export restrictions as the SCAR? Come to think of it... how are XCRs getting into the country?
