Hello!

I'm having a bit of trouble finding ammunition for my rifle, a Finnish M39 1970, and I was wondering if you guys had any idea as to where I could find any in the Montreal area and nearby. (please no FMJ, they won't let me use it in most gun ranges...) Thanks!

I've found plenty of Wolf ammunition at the Longueil gun show. It's loaded with a .308 diameter bullet, just perfect for your M39. Besides that, maybe try Districorps or even Dante's. With that rifle, you might want to get into reloading. Good Luck!

If your range won't let you use FMJ, change ranges. I'm guessing its an indoor range. Shooting a M39 your going to want to get out and shoot at 100 and 200 yds anyways.

Thanks for the reply! Districorps you say hmm, I'll give them a shout. I did try Dante, but all they have is S&B FMJ, which is kind of unpractical considering I want to shoot my rifle at the range and hunt with it. *edit yeah good idea, I'll start "shopping" for some ranges that allow FMJ...do you guys have any one in mind?

I just sold what I had a little while ago, but I know Peter at Districorp had some a cpl. months ago and he mentioned he expected to run out of it in the summer, then he was not sure if he'd ever see some again. So if he has it, buy it allll up.

My bad .... I thought you were looking for 7.62x51. I do not think Districorp has what your lookin for in stock. Never hurts to check though, I have purchased items a few times that were listed as "sold out" on their website, but they indeed found some for me. They do not update their site very often.

I shoot at St. Jacques, its near Napierville. 25, 50, 100, 200 yd rifle. 50 yd indoor pistol range with a 50 yd outdoor pistol range almost complete. Trap shooting and sporting clays plus a good place to shoot "combat" shotguns.

Its about $230/ year for a full membership or $126.50 for rifle range access only. $20 for a "day pass"

if you're looking for outdoor ranges, what area would be good for you?
north of mtl.,west or south?

Well, if it's on the island I guess that anywhere would be good, now outside of the island north and south (as in south shore and Laval) is fine, but east and west starts to get a bit far.

closest would ruisseau noir in terrebonne.they now have a web page.it's not too far down the 640 east(exit 35)

Sounds good, I'll drop them a call and see what their policy on FMJ is.

By the way, I just received an answer from Districorp.ca and unfortunately, they're all out of 7.62x54r SP ammo...damn.

fmj should be no problem.i wouldn't use tracer and maybe not even metal core(armor penetrating) ammo.if the club uses a metal backstop then no,the clubs are paranoid about a.p. ammo going thru their backstops and/or causing a fire.outdoor ranges use sand backstops and wood baffles and i've seen lots of a.p 7.62*39 being used.the owner of ruisseau is cool so don't worry just shoot...
