When hasn't it been?

Look at the stock exchanges and scrap metal prices.

Commodities are priced by their worth. The more rare and expensive the commodity, the smaller unit of measure it is valued by.

Gold, silver, and platinum are priced by the ounce.

Lead, copper, and tin are priced by the pound.

Steel and iron ore are priced by the tonne.

Spectre, thanks for that. I am somewhat connected to steel by my work, but have no contact with other scrap/commodity prices. I am surprised that lead is more costly than steel, given the work required to get steel to a useful state and alloy mix. I guess I learned something today...

Well, no luck finding the steel plate, but it may show up. We cleaned out our garage last summer when we re-did the roof, I thought I kept it, but my wife likes to throw out my junk....
Here are some of the projectiles....I found those. These were all recovered after passing through the 5/8 plate.
Left to right: 6.5x55 140 soft point, pentrator from SS109, core from czech silver tip x54.
