OK, here's some info about my Tokarev reloads: I usually reload my 7.62x25 with used ppu/s&b used brass+campro 85gr tok RN boolit+5.8gr Unique powder+Lee style crimp. The OAL is 1.350", reloads cycles well in my tt33 and feels pretty mild compared to factory s&b black-box commercial loads. The velocity is about 1300fps out of my tt33.

Being 30 mauser factory loads are expensive to get, I wonder if my Tokarev reloads can be used in a 5.5" barrel C96 broom handle Mauser? Anyone here uses 7.62 reloads in their C96?

Don't do it, unless you replace the recoil springs first. Heavier springs were available from Wolf Springs for this purpose.

I bought a very nice C96 broomhandle from a CGNer several years ago, for what seemed like an almost to good price.

There are four springs in a C96, including the firing pin rebound spring and the recoil spring.

The only spring that wasn't broken in the pistol was the mag follower spring.

When I contacted him about it, he told me he should have disclosed that the pistol had issues, which started shortly after using 7.62x25 Tok ammo.

Thankfully it was an easy fix and nothing else was broken or otherwise damaged, which says a lot for the design.

During both world wars, the Axis armorers said it was OK for their troops to use captured 7.62x25 Tok ammo in C96 pistols, but for emergencies only. I guess some folks don't understand emergency, when they read the translated edict.

Even with the spring kit, I wouldn't shoot the hot soviet version. They aren't making any more of those lovely pistols and all of the parts need to be hand fitted, if you can find them.

What Bearhunter said about the springs. I have a universal recipe for 7.62 and 7.63 x25s that I use in all my guns but it is on the mild side. I had to revise my mild TT recipe since it would not cycle the C96 with Wolff springs. Other guns seem ok with it. CZ 52 is one that should have a mild load too... Haven't checked if it cycles in a PPSh... I suppose I should :p

From Cartridges of the World .30 mauser/86gr FMJ/6gr Unique/1230fps Lyman Data
84 gr cast/5.2gr Unique-1018fps...........MAX 6.8gr Unique-1193fps also Lyman Data

... plentiful and cheap, C96 are not.

I dunno, I have several lying around :p (sorry, temptation got the best of me)

You are right, though. It is best to base the reload on the c96 and then hopefully have it work in others
