7.62 x 25 carbine

Anyone re-barrel a Spanish Destroyer?

I have done one of those. even got another mag well, split the two and welded them back together to make the well deep enough to use a TT mag. it turned out very well and worked well. sold it in a weak moment to someone here in the Vancouver area. ive been told since then that the destroyer is not strong enough to handle the preasure

What has come of the three?

They have all move on to new homes.

I built the M1 for my grandson to get used to a bit of recoil/noise and it worked well for that. Cleaning the gas piston was a pain in the butt after using corrosive ammo. The system wasn't designed to be used with corrosive.

I liked the way it shot though so after selling the M1 to a trapper, I sleeved a mod 1907 351. That was almost to easy. It fed from the original mag without a hiccup and of course being a blow back action, no gas port/piston to disassemble when cleaning. I used Titanim Putty Epoxy mix to glue the two diameter liner in place. Might have been easier just to make up a new barrel but for some unknown reason I wanted the rifle to appear original. That rifle is heavy for the cartridge and recoil is almost undectable. Not sure where that rifle went after I sold it.

The Zastava was a bit trickier to convert. The mini mauser claw picked up the round out of the mag easily but the action is designed for a longer cartridge and it required a lot of fiddling to get it feeding reliably.

I can't see doing another. My homemade D reamer chipped and is useless soooooo.

Beater wants to convert a LE. There is even more fiddling to get one of those working properly, unless it's only going to be used as a single shot.

Special bolt head, special extractor and then there is the gap the cartridge has to cross to get to the chamber and the list goes on.

I did one of those as well and took it apart to make it into a 9x19. I found the original mags for the destroyer were a bit short for the 7.62x25 but if I seated the bullets deeper they worked fine.

The Destroyer action is definitely strong enough for the project but for some reason, even though everything was aligned properly I couldn't get it to shoot well. I also find the Destroyer action to be very sloppy and gritty. It needed lots of polishing and the triggers are awful at best. The bolts can be quite rough.

Definitely interested in doing something similar if anyone has a .303 to 7.62x25 adapter I'd be willing to buy

I guess I have to learn to read. When I saw that link before I thought it said only ships to USA, but it says USA and Canada. Thanks for sending me that.

thanks I just bought 2 they only had 2 or i'd have bought 10

Jmax if you didn't get one, we can split and I can send ya the 2nd one I ordered. Otherwise i'll just list it here when it comes on EE

7.62x54R to 7.62x25

the 303 version they had was just 32acp.... its a lot harder to find so not much point on that really for value.

Just got home, yes just looked at the selection. Too bad no .303 to 7.62, that's what I was shooting for.

I would have bought that too had it been available. Its a little pricey shooting the old enfield. Still i'm curious how this insert will work in a mosin sniper with tokarev rounds.

Here are some links for 7.62x25 videos.

the cong beat him to it many many years ago. when I was a much yonger man lever brought a bunch of carbines and 1911s in from " over there" someplace, and in the bunch there was one carbine and one 1911 that had been converted to the tok round very very crudely. I bought the 1911 but he would not sell the M1 at the time.

A 308 barrel would work fine. i use one chambered in 7.62z39.

Twist does not matter very much, unless you are shooting long bullets.

If I was reaching into my used 308 barrel bin for a Toc project, I would take a 1:14, only because i don't have anything slower. A barrel off a scrapped 7.62x54 or a SKS would be a good donor, too.
