7.62 x 39 ammo in vancouver area

The Norinco 7.62x39 in boxes marked "non-corrosive" is NC. Can Ammo was selling it a while back. The stuff the others are referring to bought at the dealer on Brrard is Chinese Surplus marked as "non-corrosive"...but debatable as to being NC. Apparently, there may be both corrosive and non in the same batch...

Thanks for clearing it up for me. Sounds like corrosive is not that bad as long as you are ok with the extra effort for cleaning.

^^ If only they ever replied.

They have lost 3 dales from me, cash in hand as they simply did not reply to multiple phone calls and emails... These were firearms purchases as well, not ammo.

Are you saying the norc non corrosive is actually corrosive?

Mixed reviews. In the end it was deemed mixed NC and C. Clean as if it were marked corrosive !

So what happens if you can or do not clean right away after shooting corrosive ammo. Is it really bad for the gun?

Yea your barrel, bolt face, piston ect will start rusting in as little as 8 hours after shooting ,, I will pour very hot water with some simple green mixed in down the bore with a funnel , let it dry for some minuets then spray some WD40 down the bore and then run a bore snake through it .. never had rust .. I will do a very good cleaning every 1000 rounds or so with a bore brush and copper solvent like Hoppes9 ..

I don't bother with the hot water, windex or wd40 flushing anymore. I tried all three and they all seemed to work but now I use nothing but hoppes and clp to clean and protect and I have not had any problems. And I shoot nothing but czech surplus.

I don't leave it dripping but I give everything a wipe with clp (especially the gas system) before storage and I think this helps more than anything to prevent rust.

Yeah Johnny, Corrosive ammo will start rusting out your SKS as soon as you shoot it, and in days you see noticeable rust if you don't clean the gun.
I don't bother with the stuff, I buy the steel cased non-corrosive MHS ammo for $13 a box...
