7.62 X 54R to 303 british ?

Mosin's barrels were set back and rechambered for 30'06 in the US. It could be done, but it leaves little meat on the barrel right at the mouth......

I wonder what kind of accuracy they got sending a .308" bullet down a .311"/.312" bore? I've been told that the bullet diameter of the Mosin Nagant is .310" but the two I have, plus the brand new SKS-D that I bought a few years ago slugged out at .312" exactly. The Norinco slugged at .312" before there was even a round down the pipe;) I couldn't even imagine that kind of a conversion, unless you're a handloader, and stuff .311" bullets in you '06 cases. 303-06 maybe? Or better yet a 7.7X63mm:D

Same situation for owners of Lee Enfields that can go as big as 0.316" and Mausers that I've seen at 0.325". Sometimes they shoot well with jacketed and other times it takes cast to get good accuracy.

Sounds like CanAm should bring in a million round container of x54R.

I may be the only one who didn't get the memo, but there was a thread (and some of his emails) mentioned a shipment of 54r that was not part of the 54r ban that stopped the rest. Maybe I heard wrong, but several times I've heard august as a tentative date for more of it coming in:)
