I know I should do a google (and I did a short one) but is there any new manufactured firearms that would be suitable for hunting that we can own? I am not keen on hunting with a milsurp (and I really do not want to own one) but I would like to try a 7.62 x 54R.

I don't know of any new factory hunting rifles in this caliber. I think maybe you're limited to a milsurp, a bubba'd milsurp or a custom build.

I bubba'ed a Hungarian M44, it is light, accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

Never heard of a commercial rifle in this caliber. With so many others to choose from it is probably not a profitable caliber for any rifle company.
Not that is not a great round, it is. But there are lots more that the ammo companies are selling.
Good luck though.
When you see what Holleyman has done, why it go that route ?

I know Russians make hunting rifles in those calibers, they even make 9x54R if not mistaken for caliber allocation.
This is for Russian what .30-06 is for American, both are great cartridges.
