7.62mm DCRA LE No4 conversion thread

and how do you know this
It’s obvious, someone took a dcra gun and made some buba fantasy creation out it along with a fantasy biathlon l story.

There’s a reason L42 mags or sterling are expensive. Nevermind the receiver milling needed to use L42 mags.

Dcra converted guns never got setup for anything but single shot

I have my doubts it was a DCRA. SHOULD HAVE a matching serial number on the receiver ring which should match the barrel. Also bolt should have the same serial number. No mention of the stylized maple leaf in front of the serial numbers.
The story is just a story unless it can be traced back to actual people or events. It’s listed on NFLD GP for $3500.
Without proof it’s a unique Bubba sporter. Can anyone prove otherwise?

Some more pics.
Yes the mag is modified with a brass insert at the back to accommodate the shorter 7.62 round, holds 10 and loads, ejects perfectly. A lot of time to fit a solder in place. The front band was also modified to have the sling attach to the side. The band holding the rear grip was perfectly inlet into the butt. An extra loop was attached the receiver ring, not sure why. A metal piece was also attached to the receiver to hold the PHC sight arm in place, maybe for quick adjustment so not to look at the distance scale?. All the metal parts have a military grade parkerized finish after all metal work was complete, not sure how bubba was able to do that. The rifle is also professionally bedded properly. I have another DCRA that was used in the 1967 Palma match, all 66 of those rifles were bedded exactly the same to make it even for all shooters, this rifle is done exactly the same, with the same bedding material and done in the same location and the same wooden dowels into the receiver. The barrel is a DCRA with maple leaf #1038, the bolt and receiver have no numbers, looks like new parts.
I bought an sold about 30-40 DCRA rifles in the last 30 years, a lot to compare to, this one looks like a professional armourer worked on it. I seen a lot of amateur crap over the years.

The DCRA 7.62 program was unique, you could send in your barrel action and have in converted to 7.62 and nothing else, you would have to add wood etc, or you could order a complete rifle from a long list of extras, you could have a choice of wood with a water proof finish, you could have a blue, parkerized, or high polish blue, you could order PH sights and yes, you could get sterling 7.62 mags installed. I have an example of one I purchased from the original owner who bought it from Canadian arsenals. Sadly, most of the people involved are now passed on with most of the info lost.

I have been selling off some of the collection, but this one I kept over the years, it was just so unique, I bought it from a long time collector, who had it over 30 years. I put it up for sale, just see if get any interest in it.

that is an interesting rifle.

I would guess that it was done by the gunplumbers on base with access to all the tooling and parts bins. They got their hands on a DCRA barrel for the build and used it. They obviously had lots of time and knew what they were doing.

they built it as their personal rifle or at the request of someone on the rifle team, team captain or SrNCO.

not a true DCRA rifle in my opinion but a well built shooter using DCRA parts

Hey superbee i used to have a '69 roadrunner 4 gear. In regards to #1374 i purchased it in april 2018. She is double marked, Electropencil 5G in box and stamped C in an oval. She had no sight on when purchased but i found a P.H. 5c s# 66 or 99 and hardware to add. All in all in very fine condition and a fabulous piece of canadiana. I was told by the gun room manager (Wes) that the rifle was the DCRA armourer's rifle. This thread popped up while i was looking for more info yesterday. Very informative.
