7.62x25mm Tokarev black rifle mod?

If it where a completely new gun based around the cartridge I would be interested, otherwise I see no advantage of shooting less powerfull more rare calibers from an AR.

Likely reason; a few guys, a few beers, a few: “Gee I wonder if…..”

What would be real cool is finding a way to put the Tok into a 10/22 Magnum rifle or some other reasonably short action semi. Any chance the Tok will fit in a 1911 mag?

The ammo is so cheap and really quite powerful in a carbine. A Mech Tech carbine that is.

I've thought about a 5.7x28 in a 10/22 mag. The case heads are quite similar in size, as is the OAL. And the 5.7 should turn out Hornet-like ballistics from a rifle

I think that the 30 carbine mags show the most promise...but what to do with the rest of it?

Anyone ever see that chinese 5.8x21mm?

Just did some snopping on the OAL of the Tok. Listed as max 1.377"

Anyone able to measure OAL of some ammo like the bulk stuff from Marstar? Is the bullet really a 308?

45ACP is listed as a max of 1.25". will go home and measure mags to see if the Tok will fit.

A new barrel on the Mech Tech would be the least headache and barrels are available - kind of.

I am guessing that the 90gr from a carbine barrel would approach 1750 to 1950fps. (roughly 200 to 350fps faster then a HG). Sound about right?

Without the endorsement of KevB though, I don't see this project going very far...lol...instead it will end up being a random obscurity on the benches of handloaders.

:D

But that doesn't detract from the fact that I am still curious about it. Barrels are easy as hell to find. Ammo and casings are also easy to get and cheap.

Look what I found...notice the rim thickness

I also found this Galil style rifle chambered in 30 carbine...perhaps one can make some kind of middle-ground rifle that doesn't pattern itself after an AK or Galil so as to avoid prohibition status...use 30 carbine mags and an AK74 bolt?
