7.62x39 ammo corrosive or not?

I've heard of the Norinco 7.62x39 being corrosive. I'd treat it as if it were.

Pull some bullets and pop the primers over something that will rust, and find out for yourself.

Try nail test. That will tell you if corrosive or non corrosive. Personally I would not trust this ammo.

I assume that all 7.63x39 made by Norinco and all the cases of communist spam cans are corrosive. The Norinco stuff shown earlier probably aren't and a lot of the spam cans of ammo probably aren't either. The bottom line to it all is- it won't hurt your gun unless you stick it in a damp corner somewhere and forget to clean it. Soldiers used a hell of a lot of corrosive ammunition in warfare and didn't always have the time to clean their guns. People have become paranoid over corrosive ammunition. I have shot cases and cases of different types of corrosive ammunition. I always clean my guns within a day or so of coming home from the range. They clean up perfectly and all my guns are like new. Don't worry about corrosive ammunition, just clean your guns after use. VERY SIMPLE, Isn't IT????

that norinco silver box is some of the better norinco ammo..... wish we could still get cases of that stuff
The green box are non corrosive either. Have blasted lots of x39 and x51 greenbox and not corrosive.
back in the 90's silver box was very common, not so much these days

Its all non corrosive. I make half way decent hunting loads by pulling the bullet and replacing bullet with a soft point. No need to try and find the brass in the snow from the SKS then.

hi guys The ammo is non corrosive but extremely dirty as it does not fully burn and leaves a lot of unburned solids behind.

Got more delivered today but cant post more pics here. It's all Czech surplus imported by Century Arms. 10 rounds on stripper clip all individually sealed. Fairly sure this is all corrosive.

The Czech stuff is corrosive . and it has a funny smell in my opinion . but the stuff I tried went Bang and that's all that matters . if your ever unsure Brother about if ammo is corrosive or not then just clean your rifle with boiling water and oil after . no oil in the firing pin channel of the bolt though .
