I'm looking to get a 7.62x39 black rifle, i've looked around and it seems as though NEA is the only one making one from the ground up, others seem to be just modifying 556 guns.

Is there anyone other than NEA who is making one?

I would go with the NEA but the troubled past has me wondering about the quality.

Xcr. 9x19 (member here) has plenty of rounds through his. Unlike most folks who shoot 500 rounds and consider that plenty to give their experience as feedback.

I shoot a lot, will easily go through 5k rounds a year , I like strong reliable guns, seems as though the second gen of NEA is better, but the bad reviews have me wondering if it will stand up to the abuse

Here is pic of staking on NEA BCG. Bolt was a regular AR bolt milled out for 7.62x39. Looked strong, chrome plated.

PSA - I Run Guns has them, no issues with my upper but they have complete guns as well.

You can find them on their Canadian store

The XCR is a great platform for the x39 as the weight of the rifle keeps the follow up shots on target. We have a guy use it to great effect against ARs in TAC competition.
I have a couple of buddies with Windham ARs in x39 and they shoot very well also after getting heavier springs for the FP due to harder surplus primers so I agree with drifter dave's call.
