7.62x39 bullet WTF?

So I went to the range with my sks and after about 90 rounds it failed to feed a round into the chamber instead the round slammed into just below the chamber and the bullet got pushed into the casing by at least 3mm

any one ever have this or know what to do to "fix" it or prevent it from happening. This has never happened before, can't be too safe

I had this happen on one of my VZ58 5.56 rounds. Only happened once so far though and it just about buried the bullet in the casing!

Sounds like the mag hadn't seated properly - smack it before commencing firing for the first time.

Happened to me once before when I shot my sks for the first time. Cleaned off some of the gunk from the magazine spring and inside the magazine itself. I guess the follower or the spring might've gotten stuck on the gunk during the feed. Hasn't happened since.

I had the same concerns. Used a different batch of surplus ammo and the problems went away.

Are the newer production crates of ammo (1993) better than that of older manufacture dates? How is the 1976 surplus ammo compared to newer batches?

yeah it has only happened once to me, but I was wondering if there is a safety concern and or what should be done with said round

I was shooting an 858 and somehow a stick got inside the receiver and the end result was what you describe. I just put the round back in the mag and it fired fine...

Your range should have a bin for misfires - drop it in there.
