7.62x39 bullets for Mosin rifles

Essentially, the question is if SKS type bullets could be used with Mosin rifles.

7.62x39 bullets are available locally for $10 per 100. They are .311 and weigh 123 gr. They are of the correct diameter for the mosin caliber, but somewhat short. This concerns as if it could become a safety issue.

What is the shortest allowed lengths for the 7.62x54?

Any input is appreciated.

You might not get the accuracy but it will work. Also hornady .311 100grain xtp's make quite the load.... And they just absolutly mash raccoon's, ect ect.
