I got a friend who takes old .303 brit barrels, cuts off about half the chamber end, threads for mauser large ring and has a 7.62X39 bolt action mauser. I want to apply the same idea to a carcano as the rim a base are close enough that they fit charger clips. The only problem is that because of the narrower shoulder they slop around on the clip and tent to fall out, It's fine when the in mag. with follower pressure. Is there away to expand shoulder on a .303 or 7.62 soviet, 308 and 30/06 wan't work tapper per length is too wide. I'm sure if the shoulder was out to .425 theyed fit as tight as oringinal 6.5 carcano. The basic idea hear is I'd like to make a 7.62X39 ackly shoulder expansion.
