7.62x39 for bear

So when I went to the mail yesterday I picked up the latest Calibre magazine, and they have an article on a side by side comparison of the CZ and Zastava mini Mausers in 7.62X39. Anyone interested in purchasing one of these rifles could benefit from the author's observations, and no its not a slam dunk for one over the other.

I got the AIA enfield in 7.62x39 and uses AK47 magazens and I love it want to send it out to have it rebarreled with a 12" costom manafacterd barrel will be a wicked SBR

I ended up getting the full stock M85 last fall. Nice gun. I prefer the internal magazine to detachable for this type of bush gun, and even though it takes a bit of tinkering to get "just right" - the adjustable trigger is awesome once you do get it right.

Fit and finish on the CZ's is better, and the CZ has a better/smoother bolt (have shot a friends at the range). But it just isn't $400-$500 better.

Both are great guns. If I was unlimited with the funding I would probably go CZ.

I had an M85 mini-Mauser in 22 Hornet. A nice rifle overall. The metal finish was better than most rifles I have owned -- a deep shiney blued finish.

Nice pictures, but I'll just let you guys run with this thread as I haven't proclaimed myself to be an expert and am probably not worthy of giving advice. :)

Bearkilr: If I was hunting bear and had a bear facing me, as in the pictures above, do I take the head shot, a chest shot, or wait for a lung shot from the side? Assume I have a 30-06 with a good bullet.

The head shot looks inviting, but the skull is at a shallow angle and the bullet might glance off. Yes?

I shot a moose at 10 yards once. I went for the chest and that did not work out so well, either.
