Who has used and has experience using this cartridge for White Tail. What factory ammo did you use and have success with, and what to stay away from.

And before the panties in a bunchers chime in, I won't be considering FMJ or surplus for this adventure. And yada yada yada, keep it under 100 yards ad naseum!

Thanks

The regular Federal soft points work well and so does the PRVI stuff. Seen both those brands used with success. I've on shot a deer with the Federal stuff myself and it worked well.

I used the 762x39 for deer in the past. I used remington and winchester ammo,125 and 123 grn out of a mini30.All the deer I took were one shot kills.Works good.

I like the PRVI in 125gr soft points. Shoots through a dime at 100 yards. Good energy for a deer to about 150 yards. The bullets expand well with a proper shot.

Used remington 7,62 on couple of deer. Good result and also good grouping on paper. I like 7,62x39mm for deer so I bougth a CZ527 in that caliber... very nice rig:D

Where did you find that Prvi Partizan?

I'd like to try it in my SKS's and Baikal single shot.

I've just shot some Prvi in my 7x57mm Brazilian Mauser and was really impressed with the accuracy.

It did foul the bore a lot though.

I've always gotten good accuracy with Federal in other calibers, but I've never tried it in 7.62x39mm. I suppose it would be fine though.

I was out shooting my Baikal single shot a few weeks ago and was surprised how much recoil the 7.62x39mm has when you aren't shooting it through a semi-auto.

The 7.62x39mm is no slouch and I think it's more than adequate for deer at the range you intend to shoot it at.

I want to try working up a load with some 150 gr. SP bullets, Winchester brass, Federal 210 primers, and H4198 powder I have.

You've not been on this site long enough to know, but everyone here knows that you can't kill a deer with a 7.62x39 Just does not work. Also, my .243 winchester does not work either.

Well, obviously this one was taken approx. a month ago with a 7.62x39. I'm tired of updating my sig line, FYI. ;)

Sorry but I would need to see an independent investigation before I could believe such a thing.

7.62 x 39 can't kill deer, read the rule book.

First, it does not fly flat enough.

Second, even though it's about 130 gr .30 cal and ~2500 fps you'll not kill a deer even if you manage to hit it. A clean Bounce off is almost guaranteed.

Just defies the laws of CGN arm chair experts. Sorry, but you may as well claim UFO sightings as an SKS deer kill.

Whew!! Glad I read this before I posted my doe pics from last night's successful hunt. Now I know it was only a fond figment of my imagination. Thanks.

No problem, I like educating rookies. It could have been embarrassing to be caught in such an obvious fabrication.
