Bought this as Norinco but it isn't the same as any other norc. 7.62x39 I have gotten before.
750 rd sardine cans. Anyone know if they are corrosive or not.
Tks, Bruce

I have a crate of 93 chinese milsurp that i got from lever arms as non corrosive from lever arms a while ago. the first 400-500 round i had no problems with, cleaned it rarely, lots of smoke and carbon built up, but no rust. Then the last 200 round out of the spam can rusted everything it went through, i was just lucky i caught it after a few days while moving some stuff around.
So best answer is it may or may not be corrosive. I will check the factory headstamp and post it later, but it was for sure '93

The year of manufacture means it's possible that it's non-corrosive. The non-commercial packaging casts some doubt.

Test it (google corrosive ammo nail test) or treat it as corrosive and clean accordingly.

Eureka! I have solved my sometimes corrosive ammo problems. I went to double check the headstamps of the left over chinese milsurp and i know the first bunch i shot was all 31 93. I pull out a paper packet of the ones that suddenly turned corrosive and it's 31 72!! No wonder it's rusting stuff up. The damn chinese snuck some old rounds they found into the can with the newer stuff aparantly.
I'll have to go through and check all the head stamps now, gives me something to do on the cold winter nights i guess.

Frontier claims their 31 72 is "Non Corrosive."

Well, some of it might be, but i can guarantee that all of it is not. I didn't take pics of the rust, and i don't care to repeat it to show you guys, but you can be sure that it turns steel a nice brown flaky rusty colour.

Corrosive primers started to become obsolete in 1976. However you never know which manufacturer switched when. So I'm leery of anything prior to 1985 and even later with some of the less reputable makers eg. Chinese, POF. When in doubt clean accordingly.
